May

Easter is the most significant celebration in the Church’s Liturgical calendar. It is a time when Catholics all around the world come together to Cristian faith, a time when Catholics around the world come together to honor and remember the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is also a season of great joy, renewal, and hope. It marks the victory of life over death and light over darkness. This year as we celebrate the Jubilee Year and as we journey through the Easter season, prayer becomes an essential way to connect with the profound mystery of Christ’s death and resurrection. Through our prayers, we not only express our gratitude for God’s infinite love, but we also seek His guidance, protection, and peace in our everyday lives.

Christ has risen! Indeed HE has RISEN!

In Religion, we are talking about the importance of the first 3 sacraments of initiation which are the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. This is the year that the children are now in the right time to receive their First Holy Communion. We are learning about the Holy Eucharist. The importance of the Body and Blood of Christ. We just recently learn about the Symbols of Holy Communion.

In Language Arts, the focus is about grammar, spelling, reading, writing and phonics. Monthly journals and printing practices helps them with writing.

In Math, we are continuously reviewing the lessons we previously learned like rounding off to the nearest tens and hundreds, fact families, addition and subtraction with and without regrouping. We made our Spring Place Value craft. And we will learn how to tell Time in the next few weeks.

In Science, we are started learning about the classification of matter – solid, liquid and gas. We will did into this lesson deeper as we go with our days.

In Art, we just finished our artist of the month – Andy Warhol. This month we will explore the artist Frida Kahlo. Frida Kahlo was a Mexican surrealist painter. Surrealists create images that are realistic but do not always make sense. Surreal artists often create things from their dreams or things that don't make sense together. The Grade 2 students will make their own self-portrait, and it will be surrounded by their favorite animals.
