May

We have already had a busy start to May.  We have been busy preparing our Mother’s Day gifts and cards which the students worked very hard on.

In Math, we have been working on addition and subtraction with regrouping.  Students are starting to get the hang of it but more practice is still needed.  We will be working on this for the remainder of May.  Please help your child practice their basic addition and subtraction facts to 20.  It makes a huge difference in their math skills if they know these facts quickly.

There are only 4 weeks left in our spelling unit.  At the end of the unit students will be given a double BBQuiz of 40 words.  This will test them on words from unit 1 all the way to the last unit 25.

In Science, we are wrapping up our States of Matter unit with a couple of presentations and fun experiments.

In Social Studies, we just finished learning about and comparing Prince Edward Island to Manitoba.  We will now start taking a closer look at our whole country, Canada.  We will learn about important symbols, buildings and monuments and discover the importance of diversity in Canada.

In Religion, we are learning about the Mass and preparing ourselves for First Communion.  May is the month of Mary.  We will be learning and talking about Mary throughout the month as well.
