I hope everyone is enjoying this little time off that we got.
Officially it is SPRING.
Spring is often associated with new beginnings, of hope and of
renewal. Let us use this time to renew ourselves. Let us always have hope and
faith in everything that we do.
During this time of Lent, let us continue with our prayers,
fasting and almsgiving. These 3 pillars will strengthen our relationship with
God, with others and with ourselves.
In Religion, we are learning about the Acts of Mercy. We have
learned so far about the spiritual works of mercy then we will learn about the
corporal works of mercy.
In Language Arts, we will continue to focus our learning on grammar,
spelling, reading, writing and phonics. Monthly journals and printing practices
will help them with writing.
In Math, before spring break we did small unit about Rounding
off numbers to its nearest 10s and 100s. They love when we do little games to
master the skill. We are practicing continuously our mental math skills in both
addition and subtraction.
In Social Studies, we started learning about relationships. We
read the first book in the Treaty Kit series entitled “The Handshake and the
Pipe”. Then we will do some activities about trade and bartering.
In Science, we are learned about the different classification
of animals according to body coverings, habitat, food they eat, activity
{active during the day or night). The students love this lesson. Then we will
do a small project about this lesson.
In Art, we just finished our artist of the month is Henri Matisse. For this
month, I will introduce a new artist - Andy Warhol was a Pop Artist. Pop
artists create colorful, fun art about everyday objects. Andy Warhol liked to
create art about celebrities, cartoon characters, and food. He usually used
printmaking to create his work. He would print multiple copies in multiple
colors.
