I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing Spring break! It’s hard to believe we only have three more months of school for this school year. We still have a lot of learning and fun activities to do in the next three months.
In Language Arts, we will finish up our work with the novel Charlotte’s Web. The students are really enjoying hearing the book read aloud to them. We will also be working on short and long vowels and continuing with our writing and spelling programs.
In Math, we
started a short unit on measurement before the break. We will finish up that unit and then start
learning 2 digit addition and subtraction with regrouping. This is usually a very difficult unit for
most students. Please continue to
practise your math facts to 18 at home.
This will help your child with the regrouping unit as well as their
overall math skills.
In Science,
we started a new unit called Position and Motion before the break. Students will learn how to describe the
position and motion of different objects, including themselves. They will learn how pushes, pulls and
friction can affect the motion of an object.
In Social
Studies, we are continuing our unit on Iqaluit, Nunavut. The students are really enjoying learning
about the different communities in Canada and how they are similar and
different from where we live.
In Religion,
we will continue talking about Lent and preparing for Easter. We will be learning about the Stations of the
Cross and the Resurrection of Jesus. Thank you to everyone who brought in pasta
sauce for our Almsgiving. The grade 2
class donated two boxes of sauce!! Great job!
As the
weather continues to get warmer our playground will become very wet. It is a good idea to come prepared with rubber
boots, splash pants and an extra set of clothes, socks, and mitts.
Please
remember to look at and sign your child’s agenda every day.
Thank you,
Mrs. Shade
