“Start each day with a positive thought and a
grateful heart.” - Roy T. Bennett
I am wishing each and every one of you a very
Happy New Year! I am also hoping that you had an amazing Christmas break.
As we start with the New Year, we will be
continuing with our learning.
In Language Arts, we will be learning about
Adjectives in Grammar. We will also continue with our Weekly Spelling units and
our Reading Logs. A new reading book will be given every Monday and to be
returned every Friday. Please make sure that you are reading the book with your
child on a daily basis. Please sign in daily as well. We are also going to continue learning about
Phonics, practice our sight words, work on our printing. The monthly journal
should be done and submitted at the end of the each month. These daily
activities will help with our reading comprehension.
In Math, we will be working on learning how
to use number line as a helpful manipulative in addition and subtraction. Then
we will have a unit about Fact Families and Place Value. We will also do
addition and subtraction with and without regrouping. To strengthen our mental
math, we will do on a regular basis our Mad Minutes.
In Science, we will study where does food come
from and recognize the foods that humans eat if they come from plants or
animals. We will also learn about animal off springs. This lesson will be very
exciting.
In Social Studies, we will learn about
