April

Happy Easter, everyone!

I hope everyone had a blessed, safe, and wonderful spring break!

Here’s what happening in our classroom:

In math we have been practicing our addition up to 100 and have been adding two-digit by two-digit with and without regrouping. The students are doing a really good job in understanding the concept and remembering the steps when they need to add. We are now exploring with money and looking at ways to count the different coins.

For Language Arts we continue to practice reading and spelling words using phonics. Students have been doing daily journal writing in class and working on how to add more detail and using correct punctuation. This month is Poetry month so we will learn and read different kinds of poems during this time. It is going to be fun!

For Science, we have explored with air and now we are looking at different forms of water and why water is important in our environment. Later this month, we will do a water activity at the Children’s Museum. A field trip letter will go home for that soon. For Social Studies, we are now studying Canada and its different physical features they have for each province. We will later on move to different animals, Canada’s symbols, and communities.

For religion we have prayed and reflected using the Stations of the Cross during the week before Holy Week. We continue to prepare also for 1st Holy Communion. A reminder to please go over the lessons in your child’s Communion book and I encourage you to attend Mass every Sunday during your child’s preparation.

Dates to remember:
April 10 – Early Dismissal
April 12 – Talent Show/ Wear Pink Day for Anti-Bullying
April 21 – 1st Holy Communion practice at St. Gerard Church (time TBA)
April 24 – Children’s Museum
April 28 – 1st Holy Communion 5:00pm at St. Gerard Church

Please continue to check your child’s agenda for homework and make sure to sign it every day. If you have any questions or concerns you can email me at christinesimbulan23@gmail.com or call me at the school.

Many Blessings!
