Happy
May, everyone! This year is just going by way too fast! I can’t believe this
school year is almost over! The grades 2s have come a long way and I am very
proud of how much they have grown in their academic skills.
This is
what has happened this last month:
In math
we have finished our coin unit! The students had practice in counting their
coins by 5s and 10s using nickels and dimes. We also explored ways in how we
can make $1.00 using quarters, nickels, and dimes. We are now doing subtraction
with 2-digit by 2-digit with and without regrouping. Continue to have your kids
practice their subtraction facts to build up their fluency.
For language
arts the students have been learning how to write different poems during poetry
month. They have done a really good job in exploring their creativity and using
many descriptive words with their poems.
In Science,
we have looked at the water cycle and how we can take care of the environment for
Earth day. The students went on a fun field trip to the Children’s Museum and learned
all about WATER! They did a fun experiment about polluted water and discussed
ways in how we can save our clean water.
In
Social Studies, we continue to explore Canada. We looked at different symbols
that represent Canada, the physical features that Canada has, and looked at the
provinces and territories on the map.
Thank
you for those who supported their child as they prepared for their First Holy
Communion. They looked amazing on the weekend and it was such a blessing to see
your child receive their sacrament.
Please continue to check your child’s agenda for homework and
make sure to sign it every day. If you have any questions or concerns you can
email me at christinesimbulan23@gmail.com or call me at the school.
Many Blessings!
Miss Simbulan
